By Cindy Hemper

This September our own Erie Pa will transform itself into Hollywood East for one unique weekend. For the past ten years, the Great Lakes International Film Festival has shown some of the best small and large budget films that the world has to offer, while attracting a wide spectrum of world famous and award winning celebrities from Dirk Benedict and Bill Hinzman to Keith Carradine and Guns 'n Roses Super Star Dizzy Reed, not to mention the legendary Terry Moore...Read More

A Touch of France in Erie

By Cindy Hemper

In this week’s edition of the Sidewalk Series, we offer you a treat for your sense of taste at a very intimate French style restaurant called Bertrand's Bistro located just off State St. at 18 North Park Row, North Perry Square.

Established in 2003 by Bertrand Artigues, Bertrand's Bistro is a restaurant where one would feel comfortable sharing a meal with the family or for a romantic dinner for two with that special someone...Read More

Loneliness and Alone-ness

Loneliness and alone-ness.

That’s what she told me to write about tonight for a blog challenge. I have some of the best, most remarkable women in my life and they yank on my heart strings if I don’t keep a close eye on them. I am such a sucker for a girl-learns-to-thrive-after-prince-leaves-with-the-help kind of story and with all of this thriving she’s done, I sort of let my guard down...Read More

Smoke and Mirrors- It Is What It Is

By Jenna Croyle

Smoke and Mirrors is usually an expression used when we talk about embellishing the truth or one that alludes to the performances of stage conjurers who trick the audience. This week’s featured band Smoke and Mirrors is anything but an embellishment, what you see is what you get...Read More

Joke of the Week

The Lone Ranger and Tonto went camping in the desert. After they got their tent all set up, both men fell sound asleep.
Some hours later, Tonto wakes the Lone Ranger and says, "Kemosabe, look towards sky, what you see?"
The Lone Ranger replies, "I see millions of stars."
"What that tell you?" asked Tonto.
The Lone Ranger ponders for a minute then says, "Astronomically speaking, it tells me there are millions of galaxies and potentially billions of planets.
Astrologically, it tells me that Saturn is in Leo.
Time wise, it appears to be approximately a quarter past three in the morning.
Theologically, the Lord is all-powerful and we are small and insignificant.
Meteorologically, it seems we will have a beautiful day tomorrow.
What's it tell you, Tonto?"
“You dumber than buffalo chip. Someone stole the tent."
