Anderson & Roe Bring Fiery Artistry to Mercyhurst’s Walker Recital Hall
The piano duo Anderson & Roe will bring their fiery and passionate artistry to the Walker Recital Hall on Monday, Feb. 11, at 8 p.m.
The duo, comprised of Greg Anderson and Elizabeth Joy Roe, is presented by the Mercyhurst Institute for Arts & Culture. Described as “Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers transposed from the dance floor to the keyboard” (The Southampton Press), the four-hand, two-piano team has dazzled audiences worldwide through extensive tours and self-produced YouTube videos that have garnered millions of views. Their concerts offer adrenalized classical music that changes the face of the piano duo form for the 21st century.
Anderson & Roe’s most recent album, “When Words Fade,” spent nearly a dozen weeks at the top of the Billboard Classical Charts. In addition to recording and performing, the duo has presented at international symposiums and festivals including Chicago Ideas Week and the Imagine Solutions Conference.
Anderson & Roe are an instrumental force with a mission to make classical music more relevant and more powerful for today’s society. As the Northwest Reverb wrote, “[Anderson & Roe] swept the audience into a cheering mass of humanity, making a strong case that playing piano is the most fun thing that two people could ever do together.”
Anderson and Roe met in 2000 as freshmen at The Julliard School where they earned their bachelor’s and master’s degrees. They have been performing together ever since, with tours throughout the U.S., Europe and Asia that emblaze the stage and advance their self-stated mission “to free the world from the constraints of sleep-inducing concerts.”
Tickets are $27 for adults and $24 for seniors and students. Tickets can be purchased by calling 814-824-3000 or by visiting miac.mercyhurst.edu.
