Annual Cookies and Milk Concert Is a Sweet Treat for Families
Allegheny College’s Dance and Movement Studies Program will present its free annual holiday concert, “Cookies and Milk,” for families and children on Sunday, Dec. 8, with performances at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. in the Montgomery Performance Space.
Refreshments will be served at 3 p.m. in the Campus Center lobby. Members of the Creating Landscapes for Families program are making this year’s cookies, using organic ingredients and healthy recipes.
One highlight of the concert will be “The Cumberland Mountain Bear Chase,” staged by Jan Hyatt and performed to live music. Gretchen Myer’s Allegheny College ballet students will continue the animal theme by performing a version of “Peter and the Wolf.”
Other dance styles showcased in the concert will include jazz, tap, modern and ballroom. In keeping with the seasonal spirit of giving, a collection box for Toys for Tots will be at the concert.
Reservations should be made by calling the Dance and Movement Studies office at 814-332-3388. The homemade cookie project by Creating Landscapes for Families is made possible by a grant from the Fahrner Civic Engagement Fund.
