Thank You, Senator Wiley!
ArtsErie would like to thank Senator Sean Wiley (D-49th District) for his commitment to serve on the new Pennsylvania Legislative Arts & Culture Caucus. The Senator’s presence on the Caucus will help ensure Erie’s arts and cultural assets have a voice in the legislative process.
“The arts are vital to any community whether you’re talking about performing arts or visual arts. We are surrounded by incredibly talented people. My participation on this caucus will give me the ability to help the arts and various programs through advocacy and legislative support,” said Senator Wiley.
The Pennsylvania Legislative Arts & Culture Caucus is a bicameral, bipartisan caucus of the Pennsylvania General Assembly. It was established in October 2012 at the suggestion of Citizens for the Arts in PA, the statewide arts advocacy organization, and the Pennsylvania Arts & Culture Coalition (a statewide coalition of organizations that represent arts, culture, museums, public broadcasting, tourism and zoos).
The purpose of the Caucus is:
- To provide research, education, policy development, and other support to caucus members as well as other members of the General Assembly;
- To support caucus members in their efforts to draft and pass legislation that advances arts and culture in the Commonwealth;
- To provide analysis on pending legislation;
- To provide caucus members and their staffs with periodic briefings on pertinent issues confronting and relating to the Commonwealth’s arts and culture infrastructure.
- To develop issue specific talking points and press materials for caucus members to use in public and with the media.
