Now – August 10 ~ A Downton Abbey Summer
Are you a fan of Downton Abbey? We are and this summer you can get your fill at the Baldwin-Reynolds House. We will be having a special Downton themed raffle with an actor autographed photo, Seasons 1 through 3 of the hit show on DVD and more in a special basket you could win! Tickets go on sale April 4th at the Mark Russell Reception and will be $1 each with a winner to be drawn the last night of the exhibit on August 10th. Visit the museum or contact us during that time to purchase your tickets.
Now – August 10 ~ Abbey Attire: The Fashions of Downton Abbey
Are you a fan of the hit show Downton Abbey? The museum has an extensive clothing collection and within it, many items from the “Downton Era” (1890 – 1920’s.) We would love to share them with you! This season’s summer exhibit will be a fashion show of ladies and men’s clothes for all seasons throughout the mansion with special events to tie in. Exhibit hours will be June 1 through August 10th from 12-4pm. Admission cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children.
July 24 ~ Summer Lawn Concert
Come and enjoy the FREE lawn concert! The Pick-a-longs, one of Meadville’s favorite folk bands, will perform favorites of the early 20th century – the Downton Abbey era!
July 25 ~ Summer Lawn Concert
The Pick-a-longs, one of Meadville’s favorite folk bands, will be performing in a free concert on the back lawn of the museum at 6:30 p.m. Bring your lawn chair or picnic blanket an enjoy a great evening.
July 27 ~ A Garden Party at the Baldwin-Reynolds House
Join “our own Lord and Lady Grantham,” William and Julia Reynolds, at their summer garden party at 1 p.m. The Reynolds were host and hostess to some of the most fashionable events in Meadville’s history including parties, plays, tub races in the pond, and more. We will be having a traditional garden party luncheon on the balcony followed by a personal tour and program by our museum director, Joshua Sherretts, on the Reynolds family and their entertaining during the “Downtown” era. August 10 ~ ‘A ‘Downton’ Concert’
Families like those in “Downton” entertained themselves and others through means other than television and radio. Just like the concert to entertain the troops during World War I seen on season 2 of “Downton Abby,” Baldwin-Reynolds House will be present a concert of “Downton Era” music in the library at 7 p.m.
Local singers will be entertaining just as the Crawley sisters did with our recently repaired Chickering Square Grand Piano. Those in attendance will feel transported back in time as they are entertained right alongside WWI troops.
Light refreshments will be served. Tickets cost $8 each and can be purchased by calling or emailing the museum.
September {Date to Be Announced} ~ Antique Discovery Day with Colleene Fesko
Do you have something in your attic that you’ve always wondered about? Curious if that painting or vase grandma gave you is worth anything? Here is your chance to find out. The Baldwin-Reynolds House will be having Colleene Fesko, appraiser from the hit show “Antiques Roadshow” to Meadville to tell you all those things and more. A date and location for this event will be released shortly, but start looking in your attic for hidden treasures you want to discover more about.
October 18-20 ~ Academy Theatre Murder Mystery
Every two years, the Academy Theatre teams up with the Baldwin-Reynolds House Museum to hold one of the most exciting events on our calendar. The Academy will be holding their biannual Murder Mystery at the museum Oct. 18-20. Keep a lookout for more information and prices shortly.
November 29-30 ~ ‘Fezziwig’s Christmas Party — ‘A Christmas Carol’
-What better way to get into the Christmas spirit than to read Charles Dickens’ famous book, “A Christmas Carol.” This holiday season, however, you can do better than just reading it by being transported to the world of Dickens for dinner at the Baldwin-Reynolds House. We will be hosting Mr. Fezziwig’s annual Christmas Party on Nov. 29 and 30, with a full dinner, good music, and everyone from Scrooge to Bob Cratchit in attendance. Cost for this event is $25 per person with reservations required. December 27 ~ Museum 50th Anniversary Gala
The museum officially turns 50. Ellie Davies will share her memories of John and Katherine Reynolds from when the museum was still a private residence. Social hour will begin at 6:30 p.m. with the program following. Tickets are $35 per person and must be purchased in advance.
