Call For Musicians

Would you, or someone you know, like to join a growing wind ensemble in the Erie area? The Gem City Concert Band, under the direction of Brian McCowin, is seeking new members for the Fall 2017 season. The concert band, currently consisting of 60+ members, is very versatile, playing music such as symphonic overtures, Broadway and show tunes, traditional concert band literature, movie themes, folk tunes, and many marches. The band presents a spring and holiday concert, as well as numerous other retirement home and Erie community performances throughout the year. Rehearsals are held Tuesday evenings from 8:00 to 9:30 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church at 2216 Peach Street.

All instruments are welcomed, though the band is especially seeking flute, bassoon, trumpet, tuba, and percussion. No auditions are required; however, a proficiency of advanced high school or college-level music reading and playing is preferred. Membership is free. Interested musicians should contact the band at info@gemcitybands.org for more information, or visit on-line at www.gemcitybands.org or www.facebook.com/gemcitybands. Fall rehearsals begin September 19th, but the band accepts new members on an on-going basis.
