Concert by Chamber Strings and Select Strings Will Showcase Student Talent
Two ensembles at Allegheny College, the Chamber Strings and the Select Strings, will perform a free concert at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6 in the Campus Center lobby. The ensembles are under the direction of Robert A. Rudolph.
The Chamber Strings will play “Guard of Honor,” by Elliot Del Borgo; “Classic Bits & Pieces,” arranged by Michael Story; Pachelbel’s “Christmas Canon,” arranged by Larry Moore; Mozart’s “German Dance and Musette”; the English ballad “What Child Is This?” with sophomore Trevor Bittel on guitar; and “King William’s March,” by Jeremiah Clarke, arranged by Bob Phillips. In addition, freshman Brittany Boben will lead a holiday sing-a-long.
The Select Strings will perform John-Joseph Mauret’s “Rondeau,” best known as the theme from Masterpiece Theatre; “Greensleeves,” “Carol of the Bells” and “Por Una Cabeza,” arranged by E. Lyon; “For Unto Us,” by George Frideric Handel, arranged by Robert S. Frost; and music from Handel’s “Water Music Suite.”
