Pueblo Pottery
Little Things Gallery

Initially, Pueblo pottery was solely made for utilitarian purposes, with little consideration for artistry. The shape of early vessels reflected their use—gathering water, storing grains and liquids, and preserving seeds for the next planting

South Asian Collections
Ground Floor Gallery

Museum staff have worked in partnership with the local Bhutanese community to create this installation of works from the Museum’s collection, including Tibetan thangka paintings and bronze and stone sculptures from India.

Patron Saints and Other Paintings by Jacqueline Welch

Fueled by her passion for dog rescue and interest in religious artwork, Jacqueline Welch’s paintings portray dogs as patron saints

Mid-Day Art Break
EAM 5th Street Patio

Bring your colleagues and cronies and stop down to the Museum’s 5th street patio every Wednesday, June through August from noon to 1pm Pick up lunch at the Wave Café, take a free gallery tour and check out the live music featuring talented local musicians. This is the final Mid-Day Art break with the Erie Philharmonic closing the season, to get your last Phil at Noon.

Film at the Erie Art Museum

FILM at the Erie Art Museum is back for the second year! Doors open at 6pm and the film begins at 7pm. Alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages will be available for purchase. This is the last showing of the season, Frances Ha.

Every second Sunday of the month offers opportunities for families to explore art, play, and learn together–all at no charge! Admission is free for everyone every second Sunday, and donations are always accepted. This session will be devoted to inventions and design.

Patron Saints and Other Paintings by Jacqueline Welch
Bacon Gallery

Painter Jacqueline Welch’s lushly painted Patron Saints portray dogs who represent a human idiosyncrasy or the hero figure of a miraculous event, and advocate for street, shelter and racetrack dogs’ right to be life-long companions.

Songwriter workshop with Peter Case
EAM Multi-purpose room

Case has been a solo-performer since the late ‘80’s. His albums include his T-Bone Burnett-produced solo debut; the wildly acclaimed “The man with the Blue Post Modern Fragmented Neo-Traditionalist Guitar Case” and was among the handful of rockers who helped launch the “unplugged” movement and singer songwriter explosion of the ‘90’s. Lauded by Tom Russell, Dave Alvin, and Steve Earle, this is Erie’s chance to hear a veteran songwriter and storyteller. Free, suggested $10 donation.

Peter Case in Concert
EAM Multi-purpose room

Riding the rails from Buffalo to California while still a teenager, Peter Case performed as a street musician in San Francisco then moved to Los Angeles and formed the Plimsouls. Case is a three time Grammy nominee and his songs have been featured in movies and TV shows including “True Blood,” “Friday Night Lights,” and “Parenthood.”

Suggested $15 donation.

During a career that spanned five decades, Arthur Rothstein provoked, entertained and informed people with his descriptive images, ranging from a hometown baseball game to the drama of war, from struggling rural farmers to US Presidents.

Lisa Austin and Lori Korsmo
Hagen Family Gallery and the Katzwinkel Gallery

These concurrent, related exhibitions feature a large selection Korsmo’s unique drawings and petite relief sculptures, complemented by Austin’s work that combines aspects of her early site-specific installations and her more recent social sculpture work.

Songwriter Workshop with The Bengsons
EAM Multipurpose Room

The electro-acoustic/folk/rock duo, The Bengsons, will hold a workshop for local songwriters. This is an opportunity to “think big” about creating songs that work together as a coherent theatrical set, honing one’s performance techniques, and writing songs that maximize one’s own unique dramatic gifts. Bring a song to share if you like, and a notebook to write in! Free, suggested $10 donation.

• October 8, 4-7pm
Art Harvest Night for Teachers

Teachers of all age levels and subject areas are invited to rejuvenate, get inspired, and have fun. Special guests will be the husband and wife duo, The Bengsons, and teachers can choose from a tantalizing array of workshops about music and art.

Please register in advance. $10 pay in advance or members, $15 pay at the door. Includes snack and light dinner.

These rarely seen watercolors from the BNY Mellon Collection span over two centuries, and include outstanding works by British artists including Turner, Constable, Gainsborough, Rowlandson as well as many highly accomplished but less well known artists.

Video Dance Workshop

Art Bridgman and Myrna Packer present a workshop on how to use video as an integral part of dance performance. Participants will learn a bit about Bridgman/Packer’s “Video Partnering,” explore a few techniques that require relatively little special equipment, and discuss both the pitfalls and benefits of collaborating with extended technologies as a dancer. Open to all dancers, especially those who teach or create choreography. Suggested $10 donation.

Three performances of VOYEUR, including the installation component. Performance times are 4:00pm, 7:00pm, and 9:00pm. The NYC performance duo presents an astonishing dance/video experience, merging the real and unreal into the surreal. Tickets are $15. Call 814.459.5477.

Admission is free for members & children under 5, free on Wednesdays, and $7 for adults, $5 for senior citizens and students with ID. 

Membership
$20 Students, $25 Seniors (55+), $45 Individuals, $75 Family. Add $10 to any of the above levels for a GREEN membership.
