The Erie Playhouse Brings Rib-Tickling Hilarity with Noises Off

Noises Off, a fast-paced hilarious farce, comes to life on the Playhouse stage March 24 – April 9.

With a book by Michael Frayn, Noises Off takes its title from the theatrical stage direction indicating sounds coming from off stage. It premiered in London in 1982 and opened on Broadway in 1983 where it garnered 3 Tony nominations and won the Drama Desk for Outstanding Ensemble. In addition to a film adaptation, it has had subsequent revivals on both sides of the Atlantic – the most recent on Broadway in 2016 where it received 5 Tony nominations.

Noises Off, a play within a play comedy, depicts a company of second-tier actors performing the first act of a British sex farce –Nothing On.

The opening night performance of the farce Nothing On is just hours away, and as the cast stumbles through their final dress rehearsal, things couldn’t be going any worse. With lines being forgotten, love triangles unraveling and sardines flying everywhere, it’s complete pandemonium…and we haven’t even reached intermission! Can the cast pull their act together on the stage even if they can’t behind the scenes?

The brilliant ensemble, under the direction of Charles Corritore, brings comic chaos to the Playhouse stage. The cast features Playhouse favorites Susan Lechner, Kate Neubert-Lechner, Domenic Del Greco, and Joe Greulich along with the talented performances of Jawn Gross, Adele Crotty Gross, Jerry Munn, Rebecca Moelk and Dave DiCola.

Additional production credits go to Christine Carmichael for set and lighting design and Ryan Ingram for wardrobe and costume design.
