Feed the Need for Musical Hilarity with Little Shop of Horrors At the Erie Playhouse

Little Shop of Horrors, the charming, tongue-in-cheek, sci-fi smash musical comedy is at the Erie Playhouse and ready to kick off your summer in style June 9-25.

Little Shop of Horrors, the deviously delicious horror-comedy-rock-musical has devoured the hearts of theatregoers for over 30 years. The musical, with music by Alan Menken and book/lyrics by Howard Ashman, is based on the low-budget 1960 black comedy film The Little Shop of Horrors, directed by Roger Corman.

This fan-favorite musical follows meek floral assistant Seymour Krelborn as he stumbles across a new breed of plant he names “Audrey II” – after his coworker crush. This foul-mouthed, R&B-singing carnivore promises unending fame and fortune to the down and out Krelborn as long as he keeps feeding it BLOOD!

The talented ensemble is under the direction/staging of Richard Davis. Curtis Jones III will delight audiences as the sweet, nerdy Seymour, with Christine Daugherty – the perfect complement – as Audrey.  Bob Martin takes his turn as the crabby florist, Mr. Muschnik and Anthony Ventura makes his Playhouse debut as Audrey’s sadistic dentist boyfriend, Orin. Jade Burns, Lauren Massaro and Sane Stephens portray the melodious Skid Row urchins. Rounding out the ensemble are Brendan Daugherty and Charlie Bunch as the voice of Audrey II.

Favorite and familiar songs punctuate the fun-loving production including “Suddenly Seymour,” “Somewhere That’s Green,” “Down on Skid Row,” and more.

Additional production credits go to Patrick Rose for vocal direction and Andrew Rainbow for music direction. Christine Daugherty creates the sets and lights, with Ryan Ingram providing wardrobe and costume design. The plant is designed by Martin P. Robinson.

Little Shop of Horrors at the Erie Playhouse is infectious, funny, unexpectedly poignant and will leave you ravenous for more.
