Students, faculty and staff at the ‘Hurst are gearing up to celebrate Black History Month this February. Mark your calendars for these celebratory and educational events that span the campus.
Hammermill Library Display
The Hammermill Library staff has hand-selected a collection of books, DVDs and other materials that focus on black history. Jennifer Harris, librarian, compiled a library guide available to view online on the Mercyhurst website as well as on Pinterest. Nora Arkelian, library aide, assembled the display available to view in the library.
February One Documentary Showing
The story of four college men that initiated the Woolworth’s lunch counter sit-ins comes to life in this powerful documentary on Wednesday, Feb. 13, presented at 4 p.m. in the lobby of McAuley Hall. Sponsored by the Marion Shane Multicultural Center.
Soul Food Luncheon
Hungry for knowledge – and a little comfort food? Come to the soul food luncheon at the Carolyn Herrmann Student Union Great Room from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 14. Presented by the Marion Shane Multicultural Center, the lunch will include a presentation on the history of soul food.
