GE Transportation Will Match Penn State Behrend THON Donations
GE Transportation will match up to $20,000 of what students at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, raise for THON, the country’s longest dance marathon. The money will be used to treat children with pediatric cancer.
Penn State Behrend students already have raised $14,000 for this year’s THON, which begins Feb. 16. To contribute, go to www.thon.org, click “Donate Now,” and select Behrend as your organization of choice.
GE’s funding will support employees whose children are battling cancer. The money raised by THON is added to the Four Diamonds Fund at Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital, which pays for research and treatments that are not covered by insurance.
The THON tradition culminates in a 46-hour dance marathon at Penn State’s Bryce Jordan Center. Dancers have raised more than $89 million since 1977.
