Meadville Community Theatre is proud to welcome local rock group “The Square Roots” to their stage as part of their Summer Concert Series. The Square Roots are a 7-piece classic rock cover band from northwest PA playing 70’s, 80’s and 90’s classic rock hits from a wide range of artists including Tom Petty, The Doobie Brothers, Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Journey, ZZ Top, Joan Jett, John Mellencamp and many more.
What started in 2003 as a talent show band comprised of teachers and students has evolved into a lineup consisting of veterans of the local music scene – but who still all have connections to education. (Two of the members are math teachers, thus the band name.) The band plays a series of concerts every spring and summer, with a special focus on benefits and charity events, “rocking out for a good cause”. Band members include JoAnne Willison, Veronica Asay, Jesse Lavery, Jim Kipp, Doug Mehok, Chuck Sterling, and Kevin Vinson.
This time, the band takes the stage at MCT, to help raise funds for the theatre’s 51st season. The show starts a 7pm-9pm and cost is just a free-will donation at the door. For more information, please visit Meadville Community Theatre’s Facebook page.
