Borodin’s defining Russian epic, famous for its Polovtsian Dances, comes to the Metropolitan Opera for the first time in nearly 100 years. Dmitri Tcherniakov’s new production is a brilliant psychological journey through the mind of its conflicted hero, with the founding of the Russian nation as the backdrop. Star bass-baritone Ildar Abdrazakov takes on the monumental title role, with Gianandrea Noseda conducting. See this encore production in HD from the Metropolitan Opera on Sunday, March 9, at noon in the Mary D’Angelo Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $18 for adults, $15 for seniors and students, $10 for youth (12 and under) and $7.50 for Mercyhurst students with ID.
