Gallery 15 announces the final grand installation of P.R. Miller’s works this Saturday, September 7, 2013 at 15 Broad Street, Akron, Ohio 44305. Before P.R. retires to Southern Ohio, he will endow Akron with a bit of his legacy. At 10:00 a.m. Saturday morning he will begin creating an outdoor art garden, donning the façade of Gallery 15 with whimsical creatures and giant flowers, made out of reusable and cast-off materials.
Three months ago, P.R. handpicked two highly talented and budding artists, Michael Marras & Megan Shane, who also specialize in metal sculptures. “These two have mastered the art of detail and I’m truly honored to collaborate with them on this final garden,” reflects P.R. Working with Michael and Megan on his remote farm, the three have been able to collaborate on a grand scale; some pieces towering over 8′ high. “Michael and Megan are rich with imagination. Now that I’ve been able to give them a spacious environment and a taste of working with formidable materials, I fully expect to see colossal sculptures from them in the future” P.R. shared.
Michael, Megan and P.R. plan to complete the full installation by 3 p.m. at which time P.R. will officially pass the torch to Michael and Megan. A festive celebration will ensue with food, refreshments and live music.
Seven area artists will honor PR’s passion for the extraordinary by sharing their interpretations of dreams in the indoor exhibit titled, the “Dream Show”, which will be unveiled at 4 p.m. as part of the festivities. Curated by Mike Hovanscek, the indoor show includes an array of media, including paintings, drawings, video, photographs & mixed media by Debra-Lynn Hook, Cheryl Townsend, Brad Bolton, Joe Culley, Gingr Vaughan, Stefanie Workman, and Mike Hovancsek.
The public is encouraged to watch this historic installation from the lawn throughout the day and enjoy the celebration well into the evening hours. The indoor gallery will be open from 3 p.m. until 11 p.m where all are invited to meet the artists, view the dream works, enjoy music and drinks.
Referring to himself as “the Grizzled Wizard,’ Mr. Miller has a degree in art education from University of Akron and regularly teaches art classes to children, instructing on the benefits of recycling. For many years, P.R. served as the artist-inresidence at Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens. He is soon to retire as the artist-in-residence at Blueberry Hill Farm.
