SEASON FINALE FULL OF SURPRISES
The 2012-2013 season concludes on a Friday evening, April 12, with an “Unfinished” Symphony, a stellar soprano, and a piece that features the sounds of Rome, complete with bird calls and brass bands blazing from
beyond the city walls. In addition, the Jr Philharmonic will perform side-by-side with the orchestra and the baton fundraiser features a local business leader who will guest-conduct the opener.
Pines of Rome will conclude the Erie Phil’s 99th season. Appropriately, Schubert’s Symphony No. 8, the “Unfinished,” was first performed by the Erie Phil in November, 1913, almost 100 years ago. Soprano Danielle Pastin will be featured on Barber’s Knoxville: Summer of 1915. The Jr Phil will be featured on Verdi’s Nabucco: Overture, and Respighi’s Pines of Rome will conclude the evening. Erie Insurance’s Terry Cavanaugh will take the stage at the start of the concert to conduct the orchestra in a piece that has yet to be determined. Contributors to the baton fundraiser are continuing to cast their votes for one of two selections; stay tuned for the winner.
Please note that the concert is on a Friday evening. Purchase tickets here or call the box office at 455-1375.
This Lincoln Recycling Symphonic Series concert is presented by Erie Insurance, Local Edge, WLQN and Jet 1400 Radio.
