Enjoy summer evenings under the stars while watching classic movies hosted by the Community’s College. Beginning July 28 and continuing through Aug. 11, Porreco College will host its second season of “Movies Under the Stars” each Thursday at 9 p.m.
Admission and parking for the film screenings are free. Attendees need only bring blankets and lawn chairs to relax outdoors on the beautiful Porreco College campus, located at 2951 W. 38th St., Erie.
The schedule of films is as follows:
July 28: “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” – Directed by J.J. Abrams (“Star Trek”), the long-awaited seventh installment of the Star Wars film franchise introduces new characters and brings back old favorites in a classic battle of good versus evil. The film is rated PG-13.
Aug. 4: “Creed” – Ryan Coogler’s Rocky spin-off follows former World Heavyweight Champion Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone) as he trains Adonis Johnson, the son of his formal rival Apollo Creed. The film is rated PG-13.
Aug. 11: “Inside Out” – Winner of the 2015 Academy Award for Best Animated Feature Film of the Year, “Inside Out” tells the story of a young girl named Riley and her emotions – Joy (Amy Poehler), Fear (Bill Hader), Anger (Lewis Black), Disgust (Mindy Kaling) and Sadness (Phyllis Smith) – as she adjusts to life in a new city.
“Movies Under the Stars” provides an opportunity for the community to enjoy the Porreco College campus, a Millcreek Township landmark and a beautifully preserved remnant of its rural past. The film series is an extension of community-focused programming offered by the college, which includes associate degree and certificate programs, allied health training, Community Music School lessons for all ages, and continuing education and enrichment offerings.
