Relay For Life of West County Cruisin’ for a Cure Car Show
Relay for Life is one of the American Cancer Society’s largest fundraisers. Come out to Girard High School this *Friday to get involved in putting an end to cancer!
July 26 – 27, 2013 between 4:00 PM to 9:00 AM at Girard High School, 1135 Lake St, Girard.
The American Cancer Society Relay for Life is a life-changing event that gives everyone in communities across the globe a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease. At Relay, teams of people camp out at a local high school, park, or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event. Because cancer never sleeps, Relays are overnight events up to 24 hours in length.
Relay began in 1985 when Dr. Gordy Klatt, a colorectal surgeon in Tacoma, Washington, ran and walked around a track for 24 hours to raise money for the American Cancer Society. Since then, Relay has grown from a single man’s passion to fight cancer into the world’s largest movement to end the disease. Each year, more than 3.5 million people in 5,000 communities in the United States, along with additional communities in 19 other countries, gather to take part in this global phenomenon and raise much-needed funds and awareness to save lives from cancer. Thanks to Relay participants, we are creating a world with more birthdays a world where cancer can’t claim another year of anyone’s life.
This year there will be a Car Show with American Classics, Muscle Cars and Street Rods including Car Hop Service along with great live music, food, raffles and lots of fun at Relay for Life of West County. There will be fun for the whole family, so come out and support this great cause.
Lucky Dog, Last Band Standing, and a live performance by Chelsea Bojewski during Luminaria Ceremony, will provide the live music for the Relay for Life of West County.
Lucky Dog is an incredible high-energy group of performers that simply enthralls their audiences with the most diverse and captivating shows in town. Keeping you on the dance floor all night, Lucky Dog covers everything from the classics of Journey, Styx, and Pat Benatar, to the more modern sounds of Cee Lo Green, Lady Gaga and The Foo Fighters.
Last Band Standing pumps out hard hitting covers of the best of today’s Country and yesterday’s Rock’n Roll gold by artists such as John Mellencamp, Zac Brown, Eagles, Beatles, Blake Shelton, Lynard Skynard, Billy Currington & many more.
This *Friday cruise out to Girard High School for a cure and party with a passion with great bands, hard rock’n hits and an all night event that will wake the roosters.
