This Weekend’s Hot Spot

Poets and Thieves and Colonel Mustard at Bobby’s Place

By Terry Pentelli

This Saturday night starting at 9pm, two of Erie hardest hitting bands take the stage and rock the roof off Bobby’s Place located at 1202 West 18th Street, Erie.

What do you get when you mix thirty years of fist pumping shows, the best drink prices in town, and the largest outside covered deck around, with that classic style tavern feel and that hometown, “we’re so happy to see you service”? The answer is Bobby’s Place, where the elite meet to treat themselves to that old-fashioned service with a modern day style and today’s best music.

Nestled just at the corner of Cranberry and 18th, Bobby’s Place is packed with good times and charming atmosphere, the largest outdoor performance space, and the most smokin’ hot shows in town.

Much like most others at Bobby’s Place, this Saturday’s show is set to be the most bangin’ show of the weekend, with two of Erie’s most scary hot bands, Poets and Thieves with Special Guests Colonel Mustard.

Kicking off the party hard, balls to the walls night is Erie’s Classic Rock N’ Roll giants, Colonel Mustard. As tight as a Drum, Colonel Mustard rocks with the best of them and cranks up the heat right from the jump with covers by legendary Rockers such as Tom Petty, Steve Earle, and CCR to name only a few.

Made up of Josh Larsen on Guitar, Mandolin, and Backing Vocals, Jeff Larson on Bass and Backing Vocals, Andy Piechotka on Drums and Backing Vocals, along with Mat Upperman on Lead Vocals and Harmonica, Colonel Mustard always guarantees the best tunes, played by top shelf, high energy musicians.

Immediately following Colonel Mustard will be Poets and Thieves, a four-piece group of wicked talented musicians that slam the sounds and rock the house.

Poets and Thieves cranks out the cleanest, supercharged originals and blazing covers with a never-ending mega party energy that blows the roof off any place they play.

Poets and Thieves is comprised of Erik Nielsen on Guitar and Vocals, Carl Berry on Bass and Vocals, with Darren Corsi on Drums, and the crazy brilliant Eric Bauer on Keys and lead Vocals.

Among their killer covers, Poets and Thieves pounds out wild renditions of songs like “Mary Jane” by Tom Petty, “Wild Horses” by the Rolling Stones, “Hey Ho, Let’s Go” by The Ramones, along with many others.

As a special added attraction, and joining Poets and Thieves on stage will be local super star harmonica player, Mark Dolak, bringing his decades of musical experience and blowing his brains out on the harp with sizzling style and kick ass talent.

Make a point of stopping over to Bobby’s Place this Saturday night at 9pm, and rock like a rogue, party like a villain, and get your crazy on with Poets and Thieves and Colonel Mustard at most bitchin bash around.

As crazy as it sounds, the entire show is a Free/No Cover event, and will be on Bobby’s supersized outside Patio. For more information about this show, please visit the Facebook Event Page.
