Jul 25 – Aug 17 (Fri – Sun) – Poseidon! An Upside Down Musical (Buffalo United Artists, One Curtain Up, Buffalo, NY 13205) Jimmy Janowski and a full manifest of Buffalo stage stars embark on POSEIDON: THE UPSIDE DOWN MUSICAL. One of the first and best specimens of the disaster movie genre, THE POSEIDON ADVENTURE is archetype in full bloom: huge sets, big budget, a star-studded, award winning ensemble cast, and an over the top premise. As the celebratory clock strikes midnight, the luxury liner SS Poseidon is hit by a 90′ high tidal wave and capsizes, forcing the cast of characters to climb from the top, now the bottom, up through the ship to safety. The production promises fabulous special effects and jaw dropping musical production numbers such as Just Panties… (What Else Do I Need?), Keep On Climbing!, Bad Girls Need Love Too and (In The Water) I’m A Very Skinny Lady, sang by Janowski as Mrs. Rosen, the part played in the movie by Shelley Winters. This year’s Studio Show, direct from the NYC Fringe Festival and is currently playing off-Broadway, An absurdist look at a ladies’ society in the 1950s, FIVE LESBIANS EATING A QUICHE delivers exactly what it promises. The play is packed with tongue-in-cheek humor, absurdist comedy, and subtle social satire, all of which combine to form a rollicking and sometimes shocking theatrical ride. GETTING GO, THE GO DOC PROJECT
The Fast, Fleetig Summer Fling in the City Debuts Digitally on July 8 and on DVD August 5
SAN JOSE, Calif. (June 2, 2014) — Tanner Cohen (Were The World Mine) stars as a shy college student who invents a fake documentary project to get close to Go (Matthew Camp), a NYC go-go dancer he is infatuated with in GETTING GO, THE GO DOC PROJECT, debuting across all digital platforms beginning July 8 before arriving on DVD August 5 from Wolfe Video. A hybrid between a documentary and narrative film, director Corey Krueckeberg captures a unique look on modern dating and the classic story of lust becoming love – and then some. The film focuses on Doc (Cohen), who is too shy to introduce himself to Go, a go-go dancer he develops a cyber crush on. Doc devises a plan to shoot a documentary about the NYC nightlife scene and enlists the help of Go, following his subject across the city and ultimately chronicling their developing relationship. GETTING GO, THE GO DOC PROJECT also stars Ramon Olmos Torres, Judy McLane and Tedd Merritt.
GETTING GO, THE GO DOC PROJECT won the Special Jury Award at the Toronto Inside Out Film Festival and the Best Men’s Feature at the North Carolina Gay & Lesbian Film Festival. The film received an honorable mention at the Seattle LGBT Film Festival and was named Best LGBT Film at the Rhode Island International Film Festival.
Too shy to make a proper introduction, a recent college grad devises to shoot a documentary about the NYC nightlife scene in order to meet the go-go guy he’s cyber-obsessed with. Camera in hand, he follows his subject across the city: into restaurants and bars, onto rooftops and dance floors and ultimately into living rooms, kitchens, bathrooms & bedrooms. GETTING GO, THE GO DOC PROJECT is a nearly no-budget, post-indie, hybrid of documentary, narrative & art film forms. It’s a fast, fleeting summer fling in the city. It’s fifteen minutes of fame. It’s one young man’s foundation firming up as he steps into his future.
Getting Go, the Go Doc Project has a runtime of 91 minutes and is not rated.
