ArtsErie Update – May 2013: Register for Upcoming Workshops!
Last call for PPA grantwriting workshop registrations
Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts (PPA) project grant applications for 2013-14 are due Friday, June 28, 2013. Eligible individuals, community groups, and non-profit organizations may apply for up to $2,500 in funding to conduct arts projects which have a significant public component. ArtsErie supports the program in Crawford, Erie, Mercer, Venango and Warren counties.

Teaching the Arts to Students with Autism Spectrum Disorder
ArtsErie will partner with the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts and VSA Pennsylvania, the state organization on arts and disability, to offer two professional development workshops on Teaching the Arts to Students with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The workshops will focus on including students on the autism spectrum in arts classrooms, workshops and residencies.
The workshops will be held on the following days:
* Tuesday, June 18, 8 a.m.-3 p.m.
Barber National Institute
100 Barber Place, Erie
* Thursday, June 20, 8 a.m.-3 p.m.
Dickinson Center
43 Servidea Drive, Ridgway
Workshops are open to arts educators, teaching artists, administrators and special education professionals. Parents and other advocates are welcome to attend. A workshop fee of $25 covers the cost of breakfast and lunch for participants. Act 48 credits are available.

Arts in Education Workshop at Presque Isle
ArtsErie, in collaboration with the Tom Ridge Environmental Center, will offer a teacher and artist training event. The workshop will feature hands-on arts projects, led by sculptor Kathe Umlauf, that explore how environmental science lessons can be learned and taught through arts experiences.

Presque Isle State Park, Erie
This is an opportunity for any educator with a passion for how the arts can enhance the effectiveness of their teaching and artists who expand their practice to reach students.
A workshop fee of $5 includes a picnic dinner, and opportunities to earn three Act 48 credits, network with others interested in arts in education from around the region, take home sample arts-infused lesson plans, and get hands-on experience with arts-infused teaching strategies.
