Blue Pike’s, From the Ashes and Kevlar

By Lucas Scotts

In this week’s edition of Blue Pike Awards in Review, we take a look at two of the award winning artists, best Metal band “From The Ashes” and best Rock band “Kevlar”

Though From The Ashes has only been playing out for just less than two years now, they have already earned their place as local leaders of our Hard Core scene.

From The Ashes is made up of Zach Krahe on Lead Vocals and Guitar, Kasi Borden on Vocals and Lead Guitar, Zach Dean on Drums, with Noah Wilmoth on Bass.

Bringing a fresh and furious energy blended with the flavor of classic Metal, From The Ashes offers Hard Core Metal for the new generation with an edgy and powerful style that is captured in songs like “Bringing of Dawn”, “Reign” and “Valor”.

As a collection of 4 of the most passionate and talented Metal musicians in our area, From The Ashes rocks every house they play, taking no prisoners while devastating every audience with their power Metal sound, and supercharged stage presence.

From The Ashes always brings their “A” game to the stage, ready to rock and party with the best of them, always leaving a blistering trail of musical mayhem in their wake.

Winning the Best Rock Band Award at the 2013 Blue Pike Awards was certainly no big surprise for anyone who has ever heard Kevlar play, their brilliant lyrics and overwhelming instrumentals guaranteed this band the top spot in the Rock category.

The rapid fire Drums, blazing Guitar work, and power packed presentation makes every song that Kevlar performs a one of a kind experience, demanding their audience’s full attention and keeping them as diehard fans.

Kevlar is made up of Anthony Sanzo on Bass Guitar, Nick Sanzo on Drums and Vocals, Jacob Flaugh on Guitars and Vocals, along with Brian kevlarLowery on Guitars and Lead Vocals.

Kevlar hits you hard with killer cover songs such as  “Paranoid” by Black Sabbath, while their originals crank up the energy as the band blows you away with amazing songs like I Don’t Mind, Better Than Me, Over The Edge, Run Away, and Staring Back At Me.

Always over the top, never even close to ordinary, and constantly paralyzing their audiences with their talent rich instrumental work, smart and addictive stage presence, and captivating lyrics, Kevlar is certainly one of the best reasons for live music in Erie.

As two of the stars of the 2013 Blue Pike Music Awards, Kevlar and From The Ashes are without doubt true superstars of our scene and are absolutely must see bands.
