Caring For The Children Fundraiser
By Lucas Scotts
This Saturday June 22nd, PACA will be hosting a benefit event for the Children’s Miracle Network entitled “Caring For The Children” that will run from 6pm through 10pm.
As the second annual Art Auction Fundraiser for the Children’s Miracle Network, this year’s event, Silent & Live will benefit Saint Vincent Children’s Miracle Network initiative, The Halo SleepSack.
This distinctive wearable blanket replaces loose blankets in the crib that can cover a baby’s face and interfere with breathing. No wonder it is the number one choice of hospitals and parents alike. Every baby born at Saint Vincent Health Center receives a SleepSack to take home.
Since 1983, the Children’s Miracle Network has raised more than $4.7 billion Dollars, with most of it being raised only $1 at a time. The Children’s Miracle Network supports and has raised those funds for 170 children’s hospitals across the United States and Canada, which, in turn, uses the money where it’s needed the most. These donations have gone to support research and training, purchase equipment, and pay for uncompensated care, all in support of the mission to save and improve the lives of as many children as possible.
Each day, approximately 62 children enter a Children’s Miracle Network Hospital for treatment every minute, some battling cancer, or suffering from a traumatic injury, while others require constant care because they were born too early, or with a genetic disease.
Regardless of why the kids are there, 170 Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals always have their doors, as well as their hearts open to treat, care for, and comfort children of all ages in and around not only the Country, but also right here in our own back yard as well.
Though last year’s benefit event raised more than $10,000 through both sales of Artwork and tickets, this year’s event promises to top not only that figure, but the participation of the local community as well.
In addition to dozens of local art pieces on display and numerous local Artists contributing the work for auction, this year’s event will also feature live entertainment by Erie’s own Mr. Entertainment, Doug Phillips, along with local Rock-A-Billy legends, Matty B and the Dirty Pickles.
In addition to the incredible art that will be up for auction and the phenomenal music, patrons of this event will also be able to enjoy a variety of delicious foods donated by Erie’s finest eateries, which include Brewerie At Union Station, Calamari’s and PufferBelly.
Supplying the spirits for this event are many of the area’s premium Wineries including Mazza, Heritage, Lakeview, Quincy Cellars, Buccia Vineyard, and Presque Isle wineries all donating the wine, while the Erie Brewing Company donated all the beer that will be available at the event.
When you support Children’s Miracle Network, you touch the lives of more children and their families than any other children’s charity, and these kids are not in faraway countries or from opposite sides of the nations, they are right here in our own community.
Please come out, support the Children’s Miracle Network this Saturday evening, and help make the lives of all our children happier and healthier, ensuring the youth of our Community will always have the care they need.
PACA is located at 1505 State Street, Erie. Tickets are a $10 donation, and the event offers much of the best Art, Food and live music Erie has to offer, along with a VIP after party at the Erie Ale House that starts at 10pm.
