The growth and success of this year’s Blues & Jazz Festival was only a precursor to our ambitious plans for next year. The 25th Anniversary of the festival included an extra day and more than just music. Attendees enjoyed performances, visual and literary arts activities, workshops, and experiences throughout Frontier Park, a pilot to a vision of what an all-encompassing art and music extravaganza could look.
The last day of the festival concluded with a joint announcement by the Erie Art Museum and Erie Arts & Culture of the commitment we are making to spearhead a combined arts and music festival that could one day become a multi-venue event. Blues & Jazz will remain at the core of the festival but it will also branch out to showcase the region’s talent in a variety of other art forms.
We are even going as far as to create a new organization to focus solely on the festival. Creator and longtime Festival Director John Vanco will join the Board of the new organization, and Erie Arts & Culture will remain closely tied to it.
The problem is, calling it the Erie Art & Music Festival is far from creative. That’s where you come in. We need your help, and the help of your friends and family, in coming up with a name for this new festival coming out next year. The name should capture the spirit of 25 years of Blues & Jazz while celebrating the arts experiences that make our region a destination.
