London-based A Cappella Trio to Perform in The Logan Series

Voice, a London-based, female a cappella trio, will perform Tuesday, Nov. 12, at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College.

The latest Music at Noon: The Logan Series concert takes place at noon in the McGarvey Commons of the Reed Union Building. Admission is free and free reserved parking will be available in the Reed lot.

The Erie concert is part of the first U.S. tour for the trio of Victoria Couper, Clemmie Franks and Emily Burn. While America may still be unfamiliar territory for the group, they’re veterans when it comes to performances. The trio began singing together at age 12 when they were part of the Oxford Girls’ Choir and formed Voice in 2006 after finishing college.

“We just said, ‘Let’s meet up and have a sing,’” Burn told the Oxford Times in July. “We started off singing music that was very familiar to us, and that we’d been singing together when we were still at school, and we decided that we loved it and we took it from there, really.”

This past summer, Voice released its first album, “Musical Harmony,” which includes six pieces by established British composers, which the trio commissioned. Much of the group’s inspiration comes from the medieval work of Benedictine abbess and composer Hildegard von Bingen, which was introduced to them when they were part of the Oxford Girls’ Choir.

Music at Noon: The Logan Series receives major support from the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Kay Logan Trust and receives additional funding from the Penn State Behrend Student Activity Fee, Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts, the Erie Arts Endowment of ArtsErie and Target.
