Music at Noon: The Logan Series

The underappreciated saxophone uniquely fills the sonic space between brass and woodwind. The all-saxophone Capitol Quartet will emphasize the versatility of this amazing instrument when it performs at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, on Monday, Feb. 25

The quartet’s Music at Noon: The Logan Series appearance takes place at noon in the McGarvey Commons of the college’s Reed Union Building. Admission is free and free reserved parking will be available in the Reed lot.

Since its formation in 1991, Capitol Quartet has performed regularly at major concert venues throughout the United States, earning wide acclaim for its innovative style. “I have had the great pleasure of performing with the Capitol Quartet,” the late composer and entertainer Marvin Hamlisch once said of the ensemble. “Their fabulous sound, professionalism and innovative program all combine for a wonderfully entertaining musical experience.”

Capitol Quartet is Christopher Creviston, soprano saxophone; Joseph Lulloff, alto saxophone; David Stambler, tenor saxophone; and Andrew Dahlke, baritone saxophone. While in Erie, the quartet members, like all Music at Noon performers, will present two programs for students at the Erie School District’s Diehl Elementary.

Founded at Penn State Behrend by Warren philanthropist and arts advocate Kay Logan, Music at Noon: The Logan Series’ unique musical outreach has been honored with an Adventurous Programming Award by Chamber Music America and the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers. The series receives major support from the Kay Logan Trust and additional funding from the Penn State Behrend Student Activity Fee, Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts, the Erie Arts Endowment of ArtsErie, and Pennsylvania Performing Arts on Tour.
