This Weekend’s Hot Spot
The Groove at the Sloppy Duck
By Terry Pentelli
This Saturday night, June 15th at 8pm, the Sloppy Duck Saloon sets the stage and rocks the house with the sweet Summer sounds of Soul, Funk, and Motown with Erie’s slickest band, The Groove.
The Sloppy Duck Saloon and JR’s on The Bay Restaurant is located at 726 West Bayfront Parkway. It is a very casual restaurant overlooking Presque Isle Bay and the Bay Harbor Marina and can easily accommodate large parties as well as a tasty dinner for two.
The Tiki Bar area is outdoors and nicely shaded so that even on a hot summer afternoon or evening you can still sit in comfort. The Tiki Bar also features entertainment ranging from best live bands in town to even karaoke all summer long.
While the atmosphere is truly among the best in town, the food is well above average. They offer a very casual menu of various fried foods, sandwiches, pizzas, and salads served quickly and graciously, along with your choice of just about any Beer, Ale, or mixed drinks at prices that rock almost as much as the bands that perform there.
This Saturday’s show features Erie’s Master of Motown, Father of Funk, and Kind of Soul, Mr. Roy Hollis Jr. fronting the band, with an all star lineup of Erie’s best musicians that include Tim Papotnik, Tony Ferrara, Paul Grenburg, and Jim Dowds, along with Erie Idol winner Brittany Morton on Lead Female Vocals.
The Groove cranks out super energized killer covers of songs like “Billy Jean” by Michael Jackson, “Living in America” by James Brown, “Mesmerized” by Ja Rule, “Shining Star” by Earth, Wind & Fire, “Fame” by Irene Cara, “I’m Looking for a New Love” by Jody Watley, “Ladies Night” by Kool & the Gang, “You’ll Never Find Another Love Like Mine” by Lou Rawls, along with “I’ll Be Around” by The Spinners, and of course phenomenal renditions of “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” and “I Will Always Love You” both by Whitney Houston, along with many more that blow you away.
As the most danceable, most high-energy band playing out today, The Groove takes their audiences on a roller coaster ride of intense high-energy shows, with a bitchn’ blitz of fist pumping, pulsed pounding Rock, Soul, and Funk that keeps you on the dance floor all night, rocking an’ rolling, moving and grooving, with a party with a passion vibe.
This Saturday night get your smooth on at the Sloppy Duck Saloon and party like mad with The Groove, the most wicked insane night of balls to the walls entertainment in town.
