The Academy Theatre Presents “Legally Blonde, The Musical”

The Academy Theatre presents Legally Blonde: The Musical in April 2013: 19, 20, 26 and 27 at 7:30pm and 21 and 28 at 2:00pm at 275 Chestnut Street in Meadville. Tickets are $14.50/$12.50 and available at www.theacademytheatre.org or by calling 814-337-8000.

This hilarious musical is based on the major motion picture about love, dreams and finding your own path. Elle Woods can handle anything. So when her boyfriend, Warner, dumps her she decides to follow him to Harvard Law School and win him back. With some help from new-found friends Paulette and Emmett, and her chihuahua Bruiser, she learns that life opens up when you are true to yourself.

The Academy Theatre’s production of Legally Blonde: The Musical stars Colleen McCaughey as Elle Woods. Colleen is a graduating senior at Allegheny College, majoring in Theatre and Political Science. She is active in the college choirs and the Playshop Theatre. She was most recently seen as Titania in Allegheny’s Midsummer Night’s Dream. After graduation, Colleen plans to pursue acting and stage management at a professional level.

Jon Wattras is starring as Emmett. Jon is a student at Allegheny College. He has participated in musical theater since he was in high school. Last year you may have seen him as Chip Tolentino in Allegheny College’s production of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. He is excited for his first Academy Theatre show.

Back at the Academy is Lauren Lynch as Brooke Wyndam. Also featured are Sadie Litsinger as Paulette, Casey Conrad-Medvis as Professor Callahan, Jonny Rick as Warner Huntington III, Maribeth McCarthy as Vivienne Kensington, Heather Stump as Margot, Sonia Firster as Senera, Sylvia Cagle as Pilar, Amber Potts as Kate, Andrew Brink as Aaron Schultz, Jacob Perrett as Sundeep Padamadan, PJ Vogt as Enid Hoops, Missie Oesterling as Elle’s Mom, Jerry Whitmore as Elle’s Dad, Dawn Hunter as Chutney, Carlos Risco as Dewey and Justin Beiter as Kyle. Supporting roles are played by Duncan Prather, Nina Cosdon, Kelly Perrett, Joey Haresgsin, Amanda Hollabaugh, Stefan Potts and Tim Vogt. Making special appearances on stage are Vanessa as Bruiser and Layla as Rufus. Ellie Morfenski is the director, Sue Scott is the music director, Joni Hulse is the choreographer and Amber Potts is assistant choreographer.
