New Wave Metal

By Jenna Croyle

In the late 80’s and early 90’s Alternative Rock seem to take the music scene by storm, fueled by a generation of musicians unified by their collective debt to either the musical style, or simply the independent, D.I.Y. philosophy of punk rock.

With the breakthrough of Nirvana and the popularity of the grunge and Britpop movements in the 1990s, alternative rock entered the musical mainstream and many alternative bands became commercially successful.

Today in Erie, a similar wave of musical intensity and style is slowly bubbling to the surface, powered by passion and supercharged by desire, this week’s featured band, Bail Easy ignites the fires of the Alternative music scene with their progressive and original approach to music.

With intense riffs, smooth solos and progressively rhythmic drumbeats, Bail Easy offers their audiences a sneak peek into the future of Alternative music and how it should be played.

Though still in their late teens, what Bail Easy lacks in musical experience, they certainly make up for in talent and determination along with the unique ability to connect with their audience, both musically and culturally.

Together for just under one year now, Bail Easy is made up of Cody Feikles on Drums, Brandon Feikles on Bass, Jake Didion on Lead and Rhythm Guitar along with Luke Didion on Lead and Rhythm Guitar and Lead Vocals.

Influenced by performers such as Paul Koehler, Alexi Laiho, The Reverend Tholomew Plague, Matt Tuck, Dimebag Darrell, Joey Jordison and Kirk Hammet, Bail Easy puts their own exceptional spin on the genres, creating an amazing sound.

Through very diverse musical tastes, an untainted view of musical unity and most importantly, talent, Bail Easy beautifully blends the musical genres for a final product that is a true treat for the listener, while simultaneously giving birth to what very well may soon be considered, another musical subgenre.

As avant-garde innovators of our local independent music scene, Bail Easy combines a very trendy sound with an energetic and charismatic stage show that brings their overall live performances to a new level for their audiences.

The band’s Lead Vocalist demonstrates a very diverse vocal ability, smoothly flowing from one style to another, lending both complexity and simplicity to the music flawlessly.

The Lead Guitar work of Luke and Jake Didion supplies powerful riffs and strong rhythmic stability that guides the band through each song, all delivered with confidence, flair and energy.

The chops of Cody Feikles are always steady and precise, while the Baselines of Brandon Feikles are rich in style, both offering a powerful presence that reinforces the soul of the music.

As a fresh new wave of intense alternative music washing over our local scene, having all the ingredients and raw talent that makes for the mix of a great band, Bail Easy is certainly a band to keep your eye on, and absolutely a must see at their next show.
