Penn State Behrend Concert Band to Perform Dec. 12
Historic “Turning Points” to be highlighted
A number of historical “Turning Points” will be highlighted in the latest Behrend Concert Band performance, which will be held Thursday, Dec. 12, at 8 p.m. in McGarvey Commons at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College.
The program, titled “Turning Points,” includes music inspired by significant historical moments. Some of the events that will be remembered during the performance include the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg, the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech, the assassination of John F. Kennedy and the bicentennial of Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry and the Battle of Lake Erie.
The Behrend Concert Band is conducted by Gary Viebranz, a senior lecturer in music at Behrend. Enrollment in the band is open to all Behrend students with previous instrumental experience.
