Winterfest

Sunday, February 24, 2013
12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. at Frontier Park
West 8th Street and Bayfront Parkway

The Lake Erie Arboretum at Frontier will hold its popular Winterfest on Sunday, February 24, 2013 from 12 noon to 4:00 p.m. at Frontier Park. Admission to Winterfest is free.

Winterfest is an opportunity for all area residents of all ages to join in winter fun and games. On hand will be horse drawn wagon rides, ice carving, face painting, ice-fishing demonstrations, entertainment clowns, kite flying, and weather permitting sledding, tobogganing, snowboarding and snowman making. There will be a duck race at 3:00 p.m.

A recycled sled race starts at 2:30 p.m. Sled builders in three age groups – 5 to 8, 9 to 12 and 13-18 are encouraged to construct sleds out of recycled materials like plastic containers, cardboard and wood and race them down the hill.  Winners will be those sleds which go the furthest and those sleds which use the most recycled materials. Prizes will be awarded.

Naturally, with all these activities, participants will need and enjoy food and music.  Stop by Frontier Park and enjoy the festivities.
