JWPMS to Host 5th Annual Trail of Treats

James W. Parker Middle School students will once again add Halloween festivities for children in the General McLane community.

Members of the 8th grade advisors are hosting the fifth annual Trail of Treats Fundraiser on Saturday, October 27.  Children are invited to gather candy and treats at various stations set up throughout the Middle School between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

“We like to open our building up to the community for a warm and safe environment for children to Trick or Treat,” said Nicole Chabola, co-advisor to the student group and teacher at JWPMS.  “With the help of the staff, students, and 8th grade volunteers, this event also allows the community to give back to a local organization.”

This event is for children 12 and under and the cost is $3 per child. An adult must accompany any child throughout this event. Costumes are encouraged, but not required.

All candy is donated from local businesses. Previous events, which have averaged 300 trick or treaters, raised money for the AH Club of Edinboro, Boro Women’s and Family Services, the Erie County Council for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (ECCDHH) and the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwestern PA. Last year’s event raised nearly eleven hundred dollars for the AH Club.

This year, all proceeds will benefit the Because You Care, an Erie, PA, 501(c)3 animal rescue and pet adoption organization that works through a network of foster homes in McKean.

General McLane School District serves students in kindergarten through twelfth grade in Franklin, McKean and Washington Townships, as well as the borough of McKean and Edinboro. The District also serves tuition students throughout Erie County.
