LEAF Winterfest and Full Moon Dance Party
The Lake Erie Arboretum at Frontier will hold the 8th annual Winterfest on Sunday, February 24, 2013 from 12 noon to 4:00 p.m. at Frontier Park.
Admission to Winterfest is free.
Winterfest is an opportunity for all area residents of all ages to join in winter fun and games. On hand will be horse drawn wagon rides, ice carving, face painting, ice-fishing demonstrations, entertainment clowns, kite flying, and weather permitting sledding, tobogganing, snowboarding and snowman making. The Tree-sure Hunt loop will be set up with prizes given.
A recycled sled race starts at 2:30 p.m. Sled builders in three age groups – 5 to 8, 9 to 12 and 13-18 are encouraged to construct sleds out of recycled materials like plastic containers, cardboard and wood and race them down the hill.
Winners will be those sleds which go the furthest and those sleds which use the most recycled materials. Prizes will be awarded.
There will be a duck race at 3:00 p.m. Ducks may be purchased for $1.00 each. To benefit the winning duck and Educational and Recreational efforts at LEAF.
Naturally, with all these activities, participants will need and enjoy food and music. Stop by Frontier Park and enjoy the festivities.
Immediately following the on slope activities, stick around for the LEAF FULL MOON DANCY PARTY- 4:00pm – 8:00 pm
Bring your dancing shoes(boots) and a 5 song CD or playlist on Ipod for a great time with the full moon rising and great exercising in the great outdoors.
